issue three: return

Submissions for Issue Three are open 15-30 April 2024. We are seeking short stories between 750-4,000 words for our next issue. One spot is dedicated to a writer who has not yet published in any way or any genre. Please note this on your submission form.

The theme for issue three is RETURN. Writers are encouraged to interpret that how they wish. For example, does a long-lost brother return to a family full of dark secrets? Has a vibrant landscape returned to a primordial, dangerous state?

We are seeking short stories that engage with this concept. Wild Hunt Magazine is a venue for literary fiction that dabbles in the strange, weird, unexpected, uncanny and unexplainable. While we do encourage writing that incorporates elements of different genres, we ultimately aren’t looking for stories that fall fully in the genre camp. Wild Hunt Magazine is not a good place for high fantasy, sci-fi or erotica. We are also not accepting stories targeted for children/YA nor are we acquiring poetry or non-fiction. However, we are interested in stories that might speak to tropes, motifs and imagery from fantasy and sci-fi.
