To celebrate autumn and the wonderful spooky season, we’re hosting a fun competition: Tiny Monsters. Sharpen your pencils and send us your 30 word stories inspired by the photograph above.
Competition opens: 11 October 2021
Competition closes: 22 October 2021 18:00 London Time
Longlist announced and voting period: Week of 25 October
Winners announced: First Week of November
Once the longlist is announced, all readers will have the opportunity to vote on their favourite stories. Once these have been tallied, the winners will be announced during the first week of November.
GRAND PRIZE
One grand prize winner will receive a copy of Lucie McKnight Hardy’s new collection Dead Relatives along with publication on the website.
SECOND/THIRD PRIZE
Two additional winning stories will also be published on the website.

Entries must be written in English and be original to the entrant. The maximum word count is 30 words. The story must be inspired by the selected image. How you wish you to interpret that is up to you.
There is no fee to enter and all entries are free. One entry per person.
This competition is open to any writer living anywhere in the world of any age.
All entries must be previously unpublished (this includes not previously appearing on your website, blog or self-published book).
If chosen, you agree to have your story published on The Wild Hunt’s website. However, copyright remains with the author.
The grand prize will be dispatched to the grand prize winner 30 days after the announcement of the winners. The competition is open to any writer residing in any location, however, the prize can only be dispatched to locations available by Book Depository. If the grand prize winner is unable to accept their prize, the second or third prize winner will receive the grand prize. If no one is able to receive the prize, the prize will be retained by The Wild Hunt.
Entries can only be accepted electronically and will be read anonymously.
All personal details of entrants will be deleted no later than 30 days after the final day of the competition.
The judge’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
